Small-group pickleball camps for beginners and intermediates, taught by a PPR-certified coach. Four hours on an indoor court. Real drills, real footwork, real feedback — and a game you can feel improving by lunchtime.
“So good at teaching me how to get to the net — I'm still using his method.”

Pick your camp
Two camps. One rule: you leave better than you came.
Every camp is four hours, indoors, in a small group of players at your level. No one gets lost in the crowd and no one gets bored.
Beginner camp
Build the foundation right the first time.
For brand-new players and anyone who's "been playing a little" but never been taught. You'll learn the game the way it's meant to be played — not the habits you'd spend a year unlearning.
Grip, ready position and the serve that actually goes in
For players who can rally and keep score but plateaued. We fix the mechanics that cost you power and consistency, then teach you what to do with the ball once you're at the net.
Load the back leg, use legs–hips–core — "power from the core, not the arm"
Camp dates are announced as each group fills — reserve a seat below and Coach Steve will text you the next available date and the court address.
1 · Serve2 · Return3 · Third-shot drop4 · Get to the kitchen
The shot that changes everything
Serve. Return. Drop. Then take the kitchen.
Most beginners lose points standing at the baseline. The third-shot drop is the soft shot that lands in the kitchen and buys you the time to move up — and once you're at the line, you're where 70% of points are won.
You'll hit it a hundred times on camp day until your feet move up on their own.
Every camp runs from Coach Steve's written teaching outline. Here's the shape of it — the exact drills shift with the group's level.
Opening · 5 min
One goal for the day
Name tags, logistics, and one promise: by the end of today, you will noticeably elevate your game. All levels share the same core — serve, serve receive, transition, third-shot drop, kitchen play.
The gold rush is getting to the kitchen.
Warm-up · 15 min
Open play in two groups
Rotate players, pick up balls between reps, maximize court time. Steve watches — this is where he sees what each player actually needs.
Block 1 · 15 min
Footwork
Get behind the ball for a consistent swing. Shuffle drill, paddle-bounce warm-up, no backpedaling, no crossing feet at the kitchen.
Fast feet = better shots. Lazy feet = backyard pickleball.
Block 2 · 15 min
Dinking basics
Bend the knees, use the shoulder not the wrist, paddle at one o'clock, watch the ball off the paddle. No spin yet — control before power.
Block 3 · 15 min
The Squirrel Drill
A dinking game on one court with doubles rotation: miss and you rotate out quickly. Aim middle — "middle is two inches lower."
Block 4 · 15 min
Serve
Four players per side. Load the back leg, follow through, let the legs, hips and core do the work.
Power comes from the core, not the arm.
Then
Transition, third-shot drop, kitchen play & coached games
The rest of the morning builds toward the kitchen — the part of the court where most points are won — and finishes with game play where Steve coaches between points.

Meet Coach Steve
He learned it the long way so you don't have to.
Steve is a Level 1 Certified Instructor through PPR — the Professional Pickleball Registry, the world's leading pickleball certification organization. He's coached small groups and big ones, with a hands-on, practical approach that gets students building confidence and seeing real progress fast.
His own game has been a constant pursuit of improvement: studying high-level tournament play, learning from senior pros, and investing in top-tier coaching. That same dedication shows up in every session he teaches.
Before pickleball got its hooks in him, Steve spent three decades building and running his own businesses. Now he's doing the thing he likes most — teaching people his own age, and younger, a sport that's "a blend of rhythm, strategy and feel unlike any other. Once you start improving, you'll understand why it's so addictive."
Our mission is to facilitate a results-based program where students unlock their on-court potential and find connection to others at their skill level. The Pickleball Mission

What campers say after four hours.

“Pickleball camp with Coach Steve was awesome!! It has truly elevated my game. Most importantly I have learned to load my back leg and follow through, using my legs, hips and core to speed up my serves and drives. Besides increasing my power, it has helped reduce my pickleball elbow — which had really started to negatively impact my game. I feel so much more confident to be able to put away a pop-up or lob using the simple flick that Coach Steve taught us. It is so much fun playing with these new skills and the added confidence is just what I needed.”

Good questions
Before you sign up.
Anything else — text Steve. He answers.
Who are the camps for?
Beginners and intermediate players only, and never mixed. If you've never held a paddle, the Beginner camp is built for you. If you can rally and keep score but you've plateaued, that's the Intermediate camp.
How long is a camp, and where is it?
Four hours, one session, on indoor climate-controlled courts in the Sarasota–Venice area. The exact court address comes with your confirmation text.
What's the group size?
Small on purpose — enough players to run real games and rotations, few enough that Coach Steve sees every rep you hit.
How do I sign up?
Reserve a seat below (or just text Steve). You'll get the next available date for your level, and pay once your spot is confirmed. Seats are $55.
What if I can't make the date?
We don't offer refunds, but we'll make every effort to move you into one of the next upcoming camps as soon as possible.
Can I get private lessons instead?
Yes — private and semi-private sessions are scheduled by request. Text Steve what you want to work on and he'll find a time around camp dates.
